One of the first swaps I made was from bottles of shampoo and conditioner to bars of shampoo and conditioner.
I was always wanting a strong scented shampoo and conditioner as I loved that aromatic experience in the shower. However, fragrance is not the healthiest for our body. Fragrances can contain toxic chemicals that go into the skin and into our blood. That is one reason we are seeing so many essential oils in products nowadays. Essential oils are plant-based, so they are healthier for our bodies than the artificial toxic chemicals in fragrances.
The bars pictured above are HiBAR™ bars. They are the Maintain version of the shampoo and conditioner they offer. They also offer a Moisturize and Volumize version. They are reasonably priced at $26.50 for both the shampoo and conditioner set.
They are packaged in recyclable paperboard packaging. They contain no phthalates, sulfates, silicone, or parabens and are made without cruelty to animals- all things I look for in the products that I purchase.
I do not wash my hair everyday, but these bars seem to last a long time. You rub the bars directly on your wet hair and work the shampoo into a lather and then rinse. The conditioner will not lather, of course, but will put a light coating on the hair. You let it sit on your hair a few minutes and then rinse it out.
The scent in these bars is very light. They take a bit of getting used to, but I am liking them so far.
Consider switching to shampoo and conditioner bars to save on plastic- hopefully more companies will follow!
