I heard this story on my local news this morning and could not believe how crazy it was! As a person who has had my share of library fines, I am shocked to hear that a library would go to this extreme to get their money from two books. She even returned the books to the library as soon as she found out they were missing! I can only assume the person working at the desk did not have the guts to tell her that her not being able to make a copy with their printer was the very least of her problems. What a waste of time, paperwork, and use of the court system. I have never visited Charlotte, Michigan, but I am sure there are many more important problems they are faced with than missing library books.
