Use a bamboo toothbrush.
I just switched my plastic toothbrush for a bamboo one a few months ago. It was weird for about a week just getting used to the feel of it in my mouth, but once the “weirdness” wore off, it was just like using any other toothbrush.
I have been able to recycle my toothbrushes for years now through Terracycle,™ but in my quest to eliminate plastic from my home, I felt this was a great life-long item to swap out. I purchased my bamboo toothbrushes online, and they were not expensive at all- $8 for 5 toothbrushes! They were numbered for family use, but would be easy to write names on as well, which is what I plan to do when I replace my daycare kiddos toothbrushes with bamboo ones.
Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth and it makes the perfect “green resource” since it replenishes itself so quickly. You can research more about bamboo at http://lewisbamboo.com.
If you decide to swap out your toothbrush for a bamboo one, let me know what you think. I hope that you find it was an easy replacement.
