Use natural cat litter.
If you are a cat lover, like I am, then you know that cat litter is a must for your indoor cat. There are so many to choose from, but when thinking about what is best for the environment, you will want to choose a natural litter.
Natural litters come in many forms and in many price points. I only have one cat right now, but still prefer to pay a reasonable price for my cat litter. I also want it to be safe for my cat, not too dusty, odor-controlling, and it has to be clumping!
This year, I will be comparing different natural litters to see which works best for my cat. I have used okocat litter™ and like it pretty well, except it does track outside of the box a lot. It is a paper litter, so it does not clump as well as clay, but I did like the environmentally friendly aspect of it. It is flushable, but I never did try that. (My father-in-law was a welder and pipefitter and ingrained in my brain not to put too much down the stool!) I got free coupons in the mail for the litter for three months in a row, so that is what I got for my cat.
I found a great article about cat litters that I am going to reference when I go shopping next for cat litter. I would like to try the top ranked litter, but I do not like the price point of it! I may try it though to see how long it lasts, since I just have one cat. Here it the article if you would like to reference it as well: https://www.businessinsider.com/best-natural-cat-litter#the-best-pine-based-natural-cat-litter-5
I will be anxious to see which cat litter works best and hopefully, it will not be too expensive. I will post my results once I try some different litters. Let me know if there are natural litters that you have found to work well.
