Fill up the dishwasher!
I am not kidding when I say that my husband and I had our first fight about the dishwasher.
I have always been a fanatic about filling up the dishwasher before I run it. My husband was loading the dishwasher one evening (kudos to him for helping, I know!) and was going to run it after loading our dishes from dinner. The only other dishes in there were from breakfast that morning. There were only two of us in the apartment, so that does not add up to many dishes for one day.
Needless to say, I threw a big fit about him running it without it being full. I am sure he thought I was a crazy woman, because I was really mad about it. I am the same way with the washing machine. Maybe that is why I do most of the dishwashing and laundry myself now! He does not want to deal with my craziness!
I believe in saving as much water as possible throughout the day. We are so blessed to have the access to water that we have; I just don’t want to waste it! I am sure I go overboard sometimes, but I do feel we have to appreciate the water we so freely use. One day, we may not have that luxury.
Besides saving you time, dishwashers actually save water versus hand washing your dishes. Check out this experiment that was done to see which type of dishwashing was most effective in saving water: https://www.reviewed.com/dishwashers/features/please-stop-hand-washing-your-dishes
The best part of using a dishwasher is that the dishes are out of sight- not waiting in the sink or on the counter to be washed. Too bad the dishwasher doesn’t empty itself! Happy unloading!
