Invest in a water barrel.
I am pretty sure we all can’t or would not want get a water barrel quite this size or type, but the concept is the same.
I had a self-made water barrel on the side of my house for quite some time, but it was a bit of an eye-sore, and I did not realize you need to add something to the barrel to prevent bacteria from growing, so I had to get rid of it. It is my intention to get another one this year.
I loved being able to water the plants on the side of the house with the water from the water barrel. It was always hard to get the hose from the front or back spicket to reach over there! I tried to use all the water before it rained again, so it would collect more. It was a great water bill saver, since we have quite a few plants to water. It was also a great lesson for the daycare kiddos, and they were able to use the water to help water the plants as well.
I would love to have a water barrel for each of the downward gutters around the house, but because they can be a bit expensive, I will settle for one this year. There is even one you can use without a gutter. Here it is from my Pinterest™ page. https://www.pinterest.com/dcmom70/all-things-green/
Maybe I can convince the county solid waste division to give me a water barrel for my daycare business like they did with the composter! Wish me luck!
