Day 14 of Saving Our Planet

Posted on January 14, 2020February 20, 2020

Take showers instead of baths. You have probably already heard that showers use less water than baths. According to the EPA, 70 gallons can fill a bathtub, while a 5 minute shower uses 10-25 gallons. Even if you fill your tub only halfway, that is still using more water than ( more… )

Day 13 of Making a Positive Impact on the Earth

Posted on January 13, 2020May 25, 2020

Switch from body wash to bar soap. This is something I have swapped this year on my quest to become a plastic-free home in 2020. I love going into body care shops and smelling all the new scents. I used to ask for gift cards from all those places for ( more… )

Day 12 Pass it On

Posted on January 12, 2020February 20, 2020

Pass Your Clothes On Is your closet or dresser overflowing with clothes? If you are like me, you have clothes you are holding onto to wear again when you lose those pounds you are determined to shed. I have an entire tub of jeans I am hoping to get back ( more… )

Day 11 of Making a healthier planet

Posted on January 11, 2020February 20, 2020

Avoid single-use tableware. This is a trap most of us fall into, especially planning get-togethers and parties like the one pictured above. The paper plates, napkins, cups, and silverware can all match and even follow a theme! That is what these paper companies want to impress upon us so we ( more… )

Day 10 of Making Changes that Impact Our Planet

Posted on January 10, 2020February 20, 2020

Use a bamboo toothbrush. I just switched my plastic toothbrush for a bamboo one a few months ago. It was weird for about a week just getting used to the feel of it in my mouth, but once the “weirdness” wore off, it was just like using any other toothbrush. ( more… )

Day 9 of Helping the Planet

Posted on January 9, 2020February 20, 2020

Thrift shopping! Shopping at thrift stores is one of my favorite things to do. I love bargains! With the daycare, I can save so much money on toys, puzzles, and games. I still check to see if all the pieces are there, and if they aren’t, I don’t buy it. ( more… )

Day 8: Another water tip

Posted on January 8, 2020May 25, 2020

Use leftover water to water plants. I don’t know about you, but I am always finding half-full water cups and water bottles around the house. Most are found in my kid’s bedrooms, but I also see this a lot with the daycare kiddos after meals, when they don’t finish all ( more… )

Day 7 of Making the Planet a Better Place

Posted on January 7, 2020February 20, 2020

Turn the water off when you brush your teeth. It does not seem like it would be wasting that much water, but you would be surprised. It is recommended that you brush your teeth for two minutes, so that is two minutes of unneeded water running right down the drain. ( more… )

Day 6 of Saving the Planet

Posted on January 6, 2020February 20, 2020

Receive bills electronically. Right now, I would say I do this fifty percent of the time. Because I have my own business, I like to keep some paper bills for taxes. But, if I think about it, there really is no reason. I could pull up any bill on the ( more… )

Day 5 of 366 Days of Healthier Living

Posted on January 5, 2020May 25, 2020

Turn off the lights when you leave the room. This is a pet peeve of mine. Since I start working so early each morning down in the basement of our home, my daughter is left upstairs to get ready for school. After she gets picked up for school, I go ( more… )
