Day 132- Reusable pouches

Posted on May 13, 2020May 25, 2020

Use reusable pouches. I have not been a fan of pouches for food or drink since I used to send them to Terracycle for recycling. The smell from saving them was less than appealing and resulted in me dropping this recycling program. Many people use disposable applesauce and yogurt pouches ( more… )

Day 131- Drying time

Posted on May 13, 2020May 25, 2020

Put a dry towel in the dryer with your laundry. I can not take credit for this tip, as I heard it on a show my husband was watching. Putting a clean, dry towel into the dryer with your wet clothes should help them dry faster. I honestly have not ( more… )

Day 130- Recycling Bins

Posted on May 13, 2020May 25, 2020

Make recycling easy around the house. Most of us have a huge recycling can in our garage. This is the can the recycle truck picks up each week. Hopefully, it is larger than your trash can and is fuller than your trash can each week! Some of us have a ( more… )

Day 129- Teach the Littles

Posted on May 13, 2020May 25, 2020

Teach children about saving the earth. Every year during Earth Day week, the daycare focuses its learning on “green activities.” We talk about being “green,” we sing songs, play games, and do science, math, and art activities that revolve around saving our planet. But one week of learning is not ( more… )

Day 128- Wipes

Posted on May 7, 2020May 25, 2020

Do not flush wipes. I use baby wipes in the daycare and also “flushable wipes” in our bathrooms throughout the house. I also use disinfectant wipes for cleaning door handles and light switches and such. No matter which wipes I use, I always throw them in the trash when I ( more… )

Day 127- Washing the Car

Posted on May 7, 2020May 25, 2020

Use a car wash service instead of hand washing. When I was researching which was better for the environment- commercial car wash or at home in your driveway car wash- I thought for sure washing at home was the better choice. However, I was wrong. It is cheaper to wash ( more… )

Day 126- Noise Pollution

Posted on May 7, 2020May 25, 2020

Be mindful of the noise you make. Have you ever been at a stoplight and a car pulls up next to you with it’s bass pumping so loud you can not even hear your own radio? Have you ever been in the yard with a bunch of kids playing and ( more… )

Day 125- Cigarette butts

Posted on May 4, 2020May 25, 2020

Get rid of cigarette butts! Did you know that the number one thing people throw onto the ground as litter are cigarette butts? Approximately 4.5 TRILLION are tossed each year! In 2017, it was estimated that almost 1.7 BILLION pounds of cigarette butts ended up as toxic waste. (waste360.com) Obviously, ( more… )

Day 124- Medicine waste

Posted on May 4, 2020May 25, 2020

Dispose of medicine bottles and unused medicine safely. It would be great if you could just throw your empty pill bottles in the recycle bin, but in my city, we can not put them in our curbside bins. So, I have to find another option to dispose of them. I ( more… )

Day 123- Lunch bags

Posted on May 4, 2020May 25, 2020

Use reusable lunch bags. Although paper bags are recyclable, the best choice when you need to pack your lunch is a reusable lunch bag. If you use reusable containers inside as well, then you are golden! When I was researching the impact paper bags have on the environment, I was ( more… )
