Day 50- Newspaper

Posted on February 19, 2020May 25, 2020

Recycle or reuse newspaper. I do not know how many people still receive daily newspapers, but if you do, they can pile up quickly! I only receive the weekly grocery ads now, but I still find those on my desk periodically when I have not had time to go through ( more… )

Day 49- Smelly Clothes

Posted on February 18, 2020May 25, 2020

Use dryer balls. I grew up using dryer sheets with every load of laundry. Then I moved to fabric softener. Then I moved to in-wash scent boosters. Did you know that wool dryer balls can be a substitute for all three of these? Wool dryer balls help with static cling ( more… )

Day 48- Water Pitchers

Posted on February 17, 2020May 25, 2020

Keep a pitcher of cold water in the refrigerator. Have you ever gone to the sink to get a drink of water and the water is warm and takes forever to get cold? This is why I keep small pitchers of water in the fridge at all times. When I ( more… )

Day 47- Pass It On

Posted on February 16, 2020March 1, 2020

Pass on your magazines. If you get a magazine subscription in the mail, like I do, please think about giving it to someone else to enjoy when you are done. I know some people would say to be more eco-friendly, magazine subscriptions should be stopped in favor of online subscriptions. ( more… )

Day 46- Plastic Containers

Posted on February 16, 2020February 20, 2020

Reuse plastic deli meat containers. I do not eat meat anymore, but some of my family does, so we occasionally get these containers. I have always reused them to put leftovers in or store small items for the daycare. I love the idea pictured above, so I might just have ( more… )

Another reason to love Chipotle™

Posted on February 14, 2020February 20, 2020

I get take-out from Chipotle every week. Since I have recently become vegan, it is one of the places I can count on to find a great vegan meal. I received this video in my email today and wanted to share it with you. It just makes me love Chipotle ( more… )

Day 45- Reuse, Reuse, Reuse

Posted on February 14, 2020February 20, 2020

Reuse plastic bags. Since there has not been a ban on plastic bags yet in Kansas City, we have accumulated quite a few. I even use reusable bags, but sometimes they get left in the car. I do try to use brown paper sacks also, but when you buy fruit, ( more… )

A video all should see

Posted on February 13, 2020February 16, 2020

I just watched this video and love how Mark Rober simplified this global problem! I have had one of these Impossible Burgers™ at a restaurant, and it tasted like a real burger! I will be looking for this meat alternative in my grocery store, but as of yet, I have ( more… )

Day 44 of Helping Out the Environment

Posted on February 13, 2020May 25, 2020

Skip the individual snack packages. One of the things that causes unnecessary waste in our communities is all the individual packaging. It also causes unnecessary spending, as those individual packages cost more than the big bags of the same item. For example, lots of chip brands come in small packages ( more… )

Day 43- Leftovers

Posted on February 12, 2020February 20, 2020

Save and eat your leftovers. I would say that I have about a dozen leftover dishes in my refrigerator right now. It might be cut-up veggies, extra cooked chicken from dinner that I will use for another recipe for the men in the house, or leftovers from a meal the ( more… )
