Pick up litter you see.
This seems like an easy one, but too often it gets missed.
This is a great thing to start teaching your kiddos during the upcoming Earth week. If are taking a walk around the neighborhood, bring a trash bag with you. Bring a pair of gloves if you are concerned with germs. Do this when you go to the park as well.
When I was on vacation at the beach, I noticed some empty water bottles thrown around. I picked them up to throw them away, when my son stopped me and informed me that the kids and family close to the water were staring at me. I realized they were using them to build sand castles. So, I guess I am a little overzealous about trash being left around!
I am always happy to see the highway cleanup signs and trash bags on the side of the highway ready to be picked up. Becoming a designated clean-up crew for part of the highway is a great way to contribute to helping the planet.
So, the next time you will be spending time outside, think about bringing a trash bag and gloves with you.
