Day 13 of Making a Positive Impact on the Earth

Switch from body wash to bar soap.

This is something I have swapped this year on my quest to become a plastic-free home in 2020.

I love going into body care shops and smelling all the new scents. I used to ask for gift cards from all those places for Christmas. But once I looked at the ingredients in those body care products, I changed my mind. I have now switched to all natural soaps which saves my body from the harsh chemicals and the planet from unnecessary plastic.

I will admit that I had to get used to not seeing all the frothy bubbles (from the sulfates) that make the body washes lather up so well, but there are a lot of natural soaps that lather well too. There are not as many scents available in natural soaps because they are usually scented with safe essential oils, but there are enough to make me continue using them. I put my soap in a soap pouch that exfoliates, saves the soap from slipping out of my hands when I use it, and helps make the soap last longer.

Here is a video showing how to make your own soap scrubby pouches. I thought they were cute little gift ideas too.
