Day 159- Shredded paper

What can you do with shredded paper?

It is important to shred documents that have personal information on them, but what do we do with all that paper once it is shredded?

Unfortunately, it can not be thrown into our recycle bins. The paper is too small once it is shredded and can be a paper jam hazard to the machines used in the recycling process.

There are programs available that take shredded paper, however the programs I have seen charge by the box, and I think it is a hefty fee (usually $10!)

Here are three great uses for shredded paper that are free!

  • packing material for shipping or moving
  • compost material
  • firestarter for fire pits

Hopefully, one of these options might work for you.
