Stop using makeup wipes.
I love makeup. My daughter loves makeup. She loves to watch makeup tutorials and practice different looks. Because of this, we have more makeup in the house than we need.
My daughter loves using makeup wipes to take off her makeup. She likes the ease of having them right on her makeup desk to use without water. But what happens to the makeup wipes after they are thrown away?
Makeup wipes are terrible for the environment! They are made of plastic fibers that are not biodegradable. More plastic-ugh! If you figure you use at least one makeup wipe each day, then that adds up to a lot of wipe waste in the landfill from just one person. There are lots of people that use those type of wipes.
In fact, in 2017, there were so many wipes found in the sewers in London it made a huge build-up as big as 11 double decker buses! (treehugger.com)
So what can replace makeup wipes? I have been using Norwex™ makeup removal cloths and pads for years now. They are amazing! They have cloths big enough to use all over your face and small pads just to use for your eye makeup area. All work incredibly well with just water. They leave no traces of makeup on your face and are washable and reusable. The small pads come with a small mesh bag you can throw in the washer with them inside so you don’t lose them in the “washer abyss.” There are other similar products on the market as well.
If you use makeup wipes, consider trying a makeup cloth to see if you like how it works. You will be saving money and Mother Earth.
