Check stores for recycling.

Lots of stores are becoming part of the recycling movement.

My neighborhood grocery store takes lots of different plastic wraps and bags that can not go into the traditional home recycle bin. Most grocery stores at least take back the regular grocery sacks.

My favorite store,Target™,recycles printer cartridges, plastic wraps and bags, aluminum, cell phones, and MP3 players.

Home Depot™ recycles rechargeable batteries, compact fluorescent light bulbs, lead acid battery cores, and cardboard. I can recycle cardboard in my home recycle bin, so I have never taken advantage of this service.

The last time I went into a Batteries Plus, ™ I was replacing a microwave bulb. When I left, they kept the bulb to recycle. Some of their stores recycle CFL bulbs, fluorescent tubes, high-intensity discharge bulbs and spend ballasts. Check into the store near you to see if they participate in this program.

My county has a drop-off center for recycling. It takes paint, alkaline batteries, chemicals, tires, etc. Check to see if your county has something similar. I have to make an appointment to drop things off, which is not very user-friendly in my opinion, but once I save up lots of stuff, I plan to make one.

So many things are recyclable, but sometimes it takes a little time to collect them and a little effort to recycle them. Keep an open mind to recycling and keep your eyes open to places that recycle.
