Check out Loop™
Loop is a new way to get products shipped to your door. It uses a tote system that replaces the single-use disposable system of cardboard boxes and packing materials. It is similar to the “milkman” concept and it was developed by Terracycle™- my favorite company out there!
Like the milkman, Loop also charges a deposit on the containers used which is fully refundable when you return them. There are no subscriptions or membership fees which is nice. You do have the ability to put your products on auto-refill if you wish. Once the empty container is returned, a new full one will be sent out. So, it would be prudent to order two items with your first order so you can send one back and use the second while you wait for the refill.
On my local news last night, they had a story about Loop. Tom Szaky, the Terracycle™ CEO, was talking about the Loop concept. So far, they have about 10,000 people using Loop, which is amazing. Five companies were mentioned as being part of the Loop concept so far-Clorox,™ Procter & Gamble,™ Nestle,™ Pepsico,™ and Unilever.™
My only wish was that Loop was available in Kansas City. So far, it is only available in select cities in the Northeastern United States and Paris, France. They are looking to expand throughout the US and also internationally. If you are lucky enough to have them in your zip code, try them out and let me know how you like it!
I am so happy to see that we are coming up with innovative concepts to reduce the waste in our country. These ideas help our country move in the right direction- towards a zero waste mindset. I hope to see more companies jump on this idea in the future.
