Day 53- Staying Healthy

Exercise.

Take it from me, this is easier said than done. I do not like to exercise at all.

I have a gym membership that I do not use enough. I try to stay motivated to go, and I would love to go three times a week, but I am lucky if I go once a week. I know what keeps me from going too. It is TV shows that I love. It is being tired after working a ten hour day. It is the feeling of rather doing ANYTHING else besides going to work out.

I’ve heard all the benefits of working out. I feel good when I am done working out. I know it makes me stronger, more energetic, and makes me sleep better. I know if it has been a long time since I have done any exercise that my muscles get tight. But, it is still hard for me to go.

I have tried different things at home to get some exercise. I exercise during my shows. If a certain word is said during the program, then I have to do 10 of a certain type of exercise, alternating exercises each time. This is helpful for shows that revolve around a theme- like a rose for The Bachelor™. I used this method for the Super Bowl also. Every first down, I did 10 of an exercise. It kept me active for most of the three hour game.

I have a Fitbit tracker that I wear each day. I almost always get 10,000 steps each work day, since I am so busy with the daycare kiddos. But, on the weekends, it is harder to accomplish. I try and go to the gym at least one of those days. I also try to take my dog for a walk if it is nice.

Even though I know what it feels like to be at my dream weight, the way I reached that weight was not a lifestyle- only a quick fix. It is much healthier to gradually get to where you want to be by eating the proper portions of healthy food and doing a healthy amount of exercise.

But exercise should not be used to just attain an ideal weight. The focus should be on keeping our hearts and bodies healthy. With all the diseases and viruses out there, we need to be proactive in fighting them. When our bodies are not at our best, we can not fight off the germs trying to invade them.

We want to keep healthy for ourselves, but also for those around us that need us in their lives. The healthier we are, the more we can help others around us. It takes a lot of energy to be active, so we need to keep our bodies in the shape that they can be active.

The bottom line is that we know exercise is good for us. It is good for the environment as well, as we can do more proactive work in our communities when we have the energy to do so. Exercise gives us energy and uses energy at the same time. It is a win-win for our bodies and the world around us.
