Get a yearly physical.
I know yearly physicals are not always fun, but every man, woman, and child needs to have one.
The only way to be proactive against all the viruses and diseases out there is to get a yearly checkup. So many of us are anxious about going to the doctor- either because of time constraints, financial constraints, insurance constraints, or anxiety constraints.
But, how can doctors help us if we don’t let them? Being honest with them at your visit is of utmost importance. What is the point of going if you are hiding something that could help them diagnose a problem? It is always scary to divulge things that are going on in our bodies for fear there might be something really wrong with us, but it is better to know for sure than to wonder. And for goodness sake, never cruise the internet for diagnoses! That will scare you half to death with a bunch of random conditions.
It is becoming easier to schedule appointments with a doctor. There are walk-in clinics on every corner now, so the months and months of waiting to see someone are over. There has been a huge shift in scheduling appointments with these kinds of providers because of the late hour appointments. I use our urgent care as well, since it is difficult to leave work and find a substitute to watch the kiddos. I am so glad there is an alternative.
So, if you have not been to the doctor in over a year, schedule a check-up appointment. Make sure to do lab work, so you can check all your panels and make sure all the numbers are good. If you have kiddos, make sure they see the doctor every year too. There are many appointments kiddos need to attend to get their shots or boosters.
Don’t forget to get eye exams as well- especially for your kiddos! It is important to make sure they are seeing well for school as well as other activities.
