Be thankful for all those that are working for your health.
I live in the KC area, and we are put on mandatory lockdown starting Tuesday morning. We had already been told to work from home if you could and to stay home as much as possible, so it is not much different.
However, I am an essential business. Along with grocery stores, home improvement stores, health care workers, postal workers, etc., I will be working.
I went to the store today to try to get last minute things for daycare and my home. The stores are wiped out! The last time I went to the store was Monday morning. In six days, everything has changed. I was able to get some things, thankfully, but it will be interesting to see how easy it will be to feed my family of four, as well as the 6-8 daycare kiddos I will have each day.
Even if we do not agree with the decisions being made right now involving our work or school, we need to at least appreciate that they are doing what they see is in our best interest to flatten the curve this virus will take in our population.
Please find a way to be thankful at this time. Be thankful that you are still healthy. Be thankful the virus in not affecting children the way it affects the elderly (which is sad enough.) Be thankful there are people still going to work each day to make sure you can work or have food to feed your family.
For those that are going to the grocery store, going to the home improvement stores, picking up food from restaurants, taking your kiddos to daycare so that you can work- thank those people that are putting their health at risk to service you and your family. Be truly grateful and show your gratitude with words each time you use one of these services. We can show them our gratitude with our money once the country is in full swing again, but right now those words of encouragement and thanks are what they need to hear to get them through the long days ahead.
