Take a breath and relax.
In this time of craziness, I think it is important to take a minute for ourselves each day. Take a deep breath. Tell yourself it is going to be okay.
Our days going forward will consist of stress we have not experienced before. Being cooped up in your house with your children for an entire month without reprieve will be tough on most people. There are so many things that I have seen posted online to help make it more enjoyable.
For a lot of us, online schooling will be starting in a week or two. Parents may feel overwhelmed with what they are asked to do. But, no teacher expects parents to do what they do each day. Teachers want parents to walk alongside their child, not teach their child. They will not be giving parents difficult tasks to accomplish. They know a lot of you will still be working from home. I think this is just something that will allow teachers to continue to be paid and kiddos the opportunity to finish school and still get a summer vacation. So, take a deep breath- it will be okay.
Even though I will be working with the daycare kiddos, I have decided to focus on some projects that I have wanted to do. I won’t be traipsing around the city in the evenings for a month, so I have time. I finally finished watching The Office© on Netflix ™ over spring break. Now, I am going to tackle all the paperback romance novels I purchased from a garage sale a couple years ago. There are probably fifty of them! I am going to pick up my scrapbooking again. I am years behind and have all the supplies- which is good since I believe the craft stores are not an “essential business.”
Think of a few things you would like to tackle over the mandatory break- if you are on one as well. I know the home improvement stores are open, so maybe there are some of those types of projects you can do. I don’t know how relaxing those might be! But, find something for YOURSELF that you enjoy that can help you relax each day- even if it is just for ten minutes. You are worth it, you need it, and you deserve it.
