Day 89- Wasted Food

Buy imperfect foods.

Grocery stores throw away 43 billion pounds of food each year. (dumpsters.com)

To help with this statistic, there are a couple of companies that sell “imperfect” foods through a subscription service. One of these companies, Imperfect Produce, has saved 900 million gallons of water and 30 million pounds of food by selling this produce to consumers in the last three years. This is a huge dent in keeping food waste out of the landfill!

I have not tried these companies yet, but want to this year. Since I have recently become vegan, my need for produce has increased. I am anxious to see what these food subscription services are like.
