Start or donate to a little free library.
I saw one of these the other day when I was driving around trying to get out of the house for a bit. I did not know it was there beforehand. But, what a great idea it is!
I would love to do this in my yard and am going to research more on how it is done. I will also have to convince my husband to put it in my yard, which will probably be the most difficult part!
Once the library is set up, people can stop by anytime and take a book or leave a book. It can be used for readers of all ages. I was also happy to see that the libraries are being used as food pantries during this time of need.
Here is a video I found that explains how these libraries work:
This is a great way to promote reading and give back to the community. I liked the idea of a journal in the library where you could put comments if you wish. If you want your library to be found easily, you can put it on the world map on the Little Free Libraries website. You can also purchase the libraries on their site. They are more expensive than I thought they would be, so you might want to consider having a fundraiser to purchase it. Also, after looking at the site, there were two stories of people in the KC area that had to go through quite a bit of red tape to get their library set up. So, make sure to check with your local zoning laws and HOA if you have one.
