Carpool.
This seems like a no-brainer, but I think so many people want to be in control of their day, that this gets put to the wayside.
Last school year, our county adopted a share ride service that allowed community college students to get picked up at their house and then dropped off at the school. It ran in a limited area and was only $1.50 each way. It was a big success, and I believe it will continue to be. $3 is much cheaper than the gas and wear and tear on your car each day.
I have not known many people that carpool to work, but I carpool a lot with family members when we go to events. It helps my parents so they don’t have to drive at night, and prevents too many cars in the event planners driveway.
There are many cities that actually have a carpool lane on the highway to prevent excessive congestion on the highway and excessive pollution in the air. I think more cities should adopt these.
I have also seen carpool lots where you can park your car and catch other transportation to take you to your destination. This is a great idea for big events being held at convention centers and stadiums. Most people don’t want to fight the traffic for those events! I know I don’t!
Wherever you might be going, consider if carpooling is an option. It is a great way to prevent wear and tear on your car, save gas, and keep excessive amounts of vehicles off the road, which in turn saves the environment.
Safe travels!
