Make coffee and smoothie drinks at home.
I am not a coffee drinker, but I do enjoy a smoothie every now and then.
We all know how popular coffee drinks are, and thanks to my teenage daughter, I know how expensive they are as well. These coffee shops are making a mint on this addiction!
Every week at my daughter’s school, the local smoothie shop comes and allows them to buy smoothies for lunch. There are all sorts of flavors and added vitamins and nutrients you can add to the smoothies when purchasing them at the smoothie shop, but at her school there are only a couple of choices.
Both coffee and smoothies can be made at home. My fourteen year-old daughter wanted a Keurig for Christmas, but I just could not justify getting her one, as none of us drink coffee, it would take up space on the kitchen counter, and drinking coffee drinks is not the best habit to start. Coffee machines are not cheap, but are cheaper in the long run.
Smoothies, on the other hand, are healthy, easy to make, and use ingredients that are normally in the home. Most people own a blender of some sort to make them, so it does not require a special machine.
The amount of money you could save making these drinks at home is a huge amount, as each purchased drink runs between $5-$9. Some people have these drinks every day! The gas, time, and disposable cups are also things that you save making these drinks at home.
